Sažetak
Неконтролисано ширење градова је, између осталог, последица вољног или подстакнутог пресељења становништва из ужег градског језгра на периферију, односно досељавања из других насеља у периферне делове града. С обзиром на њихов утицај на субурбанизацију, у овом раду је тежиште на резиденцијалним преференцијама и анализи избора подручја становања и тенденција одређених група становништва ка приоритизацији живљења у предграђу, односно живљења у граду. Изложена теоријска разматрања полазе од компоненти резиденцијалних преференција и тезе о променама преовлађујућих мотива за избор пребивалишта породице и појединца током животног циклуса. Потом су анализирани подаци о становништву на основу најновијег пописа у два пилот-подручја урбаног и субурбаног типа у Београду. Даља истраживања резиденцијалних преференција почивају на формирању засебног упитника који ће омогућити примену напреднијих техника статистичке анализе, а нарочито већу употребу мерних скала које могу послужити за формирање модела предвиђања резиденцијалних преференција код различитих група становништва у градским и приградским срединама.
