Abstract
The New Testament not only advises but also demands the collegial exercising of the Petrine ministry even though Peter remains the head. It is to be considered that the leading of the universal church by Peter is testified in the Gospel of St. John, the Gospel which emphasises the Spirit of God strengthening every Christian.The ministry of Peter has to present the unity of the church, a unity to be understood as the unity under the Gospel.References
