Sažetak

Izveštavanje o kriminalitetu zauzima centralnu poziciju u medijskoj agendi štampanih i elektronskih medija. Ključna stvar u vezi sa medijskim izveštavanjem o kriminalitetu jeste pitanje uticaja koji dominantan medijski diskurs o kriminalitetu ima na percepciju ovog fenomena od strane javnosti. Cilj ovog rada obuhvata sagledavanje načina prezentacije kriminaliteta u medijima, identifikovanje kriterijuma kojima se rukovodi pri odabiru vesti o kriminalitetu i, na kraju, uticaja koji medijska prezentacija kriminaliteta ima na javnost. Istraživanja o medijskom izveštavanju o kriminalitetu govore u prilog tome da prevelika zastupljenost nasilničkog kriminaliteta utiče na medijsku konstrukciju kriminaliteta, na način da se ovaj fenomen predstavlja kao dominantno nasilan.
