Abstract

The subject of research in this work is plural societies, the mechanisms of their political-system formation and functioning. The case studies we investigate in the comparative analysis are the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina. At first glance, the methodologically incompatible and substantively clumsy work gives us, nevertheless, the necessary insight into the genesis of the plurality of two spaces, their position within consociational theory, their geopolitical dimension and political practice. Because of all of the above, we ask a research question: What can the divided and complexly organized European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, their researchers and political elites, learn from each other and thus theoretically and practically improve the perception and functioning of plural societies and their political systems?
